13th Sculpture By the Sea 2017     l     Cottesloe, Perth , Western Australia

The 2.6-meter tall, paper-like steel sculpture, "Homo sapiens sapiens," adorned with carp motifs found on common Chinese plates, was exhibited at the "13th Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe, 2017." This sculpture aimed to simulate a migrant or asylum seeker emerging from Cottesloe's shores, a popular Western Australian tourist destination, and thus raised questions about racial tolerance and cultural acceptance. The sculpture was later relocated to Kyilla Primary School but was removed in 2021 due to vandalism.
