Mah's  first superhero idol was not spiderman or superman, but Sun Wukong aka Monkey magic. As a kid, he watched Havoc in Heaven, a classic Chinese animation 389 times.  The film was also used as a joke metaphor for the "havoc" being caused by Mao Zedong (the monkey) in "heaven" (China).
Like Sun Wukong, a celestial mutant, a misfit in the ranks of Chinese mythology, he struggled to gain acceptance of his Chinese cultural identity in a White dominant Western Australia during  the late 80's.
